Ground conditions: the best conditions can be found on a sandy place or very shortly mowed lawn. These conditions allow the flying lines to lay on the ground without being snagged. The participants stand about 4 meters apart and so each has the wind at their back equally.

The line touch game rules: When both participants are ready, the starter judge gives the signal for "top" or "bottom". The aim is now to touch the flying line of the opponent with your own flying line from the top or from the bottom based on what the starter judge signaled. This sounds rather easy, but it's a quite a challenging task which requires fast reaction and precise kite-flying. Each time you correctly touch your opponent's flying line, you earn one point which will be scored. E.g. -----------------------> Score Sheet Forms can be downloaded, here.
![]() | There already exists an electronic starter in the US which gives two different signals 'top' or 'bottom' acoustically. This device is called FairStart.
